... bei solch gegensätzlichen kunstwerken zum thema 1. weltkrieg.

es prallen kunstwelten aufeinander, das ist mir heute klar geworden.
und doch bin ich auf unterschiedliche weise, gleichermaßen berührt von den leisen und den lauten tönen hier...:

bei der recherche zum inhalt des nachfolgenden liedtextes eines zunächst mal musikalisch aufrüttelnden songs, stieß ich auf eine mir bis dato unbekannte geschichte (die ich nie hinter diesen tönen vermutet hätte)
... und ich fühlte mich sofort an das nachstehende denkmal in london erinnert, das mir wegen seiner ungewöhnlichen, wenn auch eigentlich "nur" realistischen, motivwahl in erinnerung bleiben wird. makaber, treffend, passender, als viele tradierte denkmäler für soldaten.

Textbezug (2003 auf Dance of Death): über Schicksal eines Soldaten während der totalen Vernichtung des Dorfes Passendale und der Gegend Zonnebekes (Westflandern) in Belgien während des 1. WK; im englischen Sprachgebrauch wird diese Schlacht seither mit dem Synonym Passchendaele bezeichnet (hier endete 1917 die Schlacht mit der Eroberung des Dorfes durch Einheiten des Vereinigten Königreichs und Kanadas unter größten Verlusten)
